  • Who designs our workshop and CPD experiences? 

    We were founded by teachers who are passionate for all things STEM.

    All of our workshops and CPD sessions are delivered by qualified and experienced professionals. 

    We understand what it's like to manage a class and we know how to ensure your pupils are learning and having fun.

    We have worked with clients like the Royal Air Force to design bespoke workshop content based on their requirements too. If you require bespoke content or learning programmes please get in touch.

    Who can participate in Hyett Education workshop and CPD experiences?

    At our core we are educators and have designed our workshops around England’s National Curriculum for students between ages 5-18 years.

    However, we have delivered experiences for children’s birthday parties, home school groups, holiday clubs, for teachers as part of professional development and for businesses looking to provide fun team-building events.

    Do we provide workshops for SEN / SEMH / Alternative provisions?

    Yes we do. We are happy to work with all children, no exclusions or proviso.

  • How do I make a booking?

    Please visit the ‘School Workshops’ tab on this website and click the ‘Make an Enquiry or Booking’ button. This will take you through to a short form. We’ll ask a few questions that help us understand your needs and contact you within 48 hours to clarify details and suggest/organise dates in the diary.

    Once we agree a date and price, we ask for email confirmation to proceed and will follow up with an invoice to your organisation.

    What happens after making a booking? 

    Once you've made a booking, we'll do all the hard work for you. We'll plan the workshop, bring all the equipment needed and take care of the delivery. 

    All you need to do is let us know if there are any specific curriculum needs, so we can make sure we link into your current learning objectives.

    If we have details of your school day; start of day, end of day and break times etc, we can recommend a timetable. We work around you and are happy to adapt session timings to minimise disruption to your typical school day.

    What are the standard timings of a workshop experience and what logistics need to be considered?

    In general, we request access to the space we will be using for our workshop from 7.30am. This gives us plenty of time to get the equipment in and set up, without disrupting children coming in to start their school day. If its a full day workshop, we usually run until around 3pm.

    We will always ask about your school’s break and lunch times to make sure we base our sessions around what works for your school.

    In terms of logistics, we will do all the lifting and carrying. All we ask is to be able to get our instructor’s vehicle/s close to the hall/classroom for loading and unloading. Again, we do this while being considerate of your school timings.

    What sort of access do we need for a workshop day? 

    To enable us to be set up and be ready for the children, we normally require access to a school from 7.30-7.45am.

    We often have a lot of equipment with us, so parking/loading access close to the workshop area is always preferred. If onsite parking cannot be provided, please let us know in advance. Our quote may need to include a parking charge.

    For the best experience and for workshops with larger group sizes, we will need a large area such as the school hall, lunch hall, theatre or gym.

    For our drone workshop, we will require an area with a high ceiling; so the drones can fly more freely and to minimise risk to equipment and participants.

  • Do we have the recommended safeguarding and DBS clearance to work with young people? 

    The short answer is YES. 

    All members of our team have completely clear Enhanced DBS certificates, and have completed at least Level 1 Safeguarding training within the last two years.

    Every member of staff visiting a school will have photographic ID and their DBS certificate on their person.

    If your school requires it, we can also provide a Letter of Assurance before we arrive. Requests for Letter’s of Assurance must be made at least one week before the day of the workshop.

    Do we need a member of school staff in the room with us during workshop delivery?  

    Yes! We expect that a school member of staff remains in the room for the duration of our sessions with children. This is part of our internal safeguarding policy and good safeguarding practice in general.

    It is also useful when we provide workshops for younger audiences, such as KS1, as the children require more attention. With older students, a teacher being in with us helps us with managing student behaviour, so we can focus on delivering excellent content.

    Who is responsible for classroom management during workshops?

    Our focus during workshops is to provide the best experience possible for all students.

    We have our own classroom management strategies to ensure we capture students’ attention and can guide them effectively throughout the experience.

    If school has a particular classroom management strategy that you’d like us to adhere to, please make our instructor aware at the start of the day.

    Who is responsible for behaviour management during workshops?

    We require school staff to manage any behavioural issues, should they occur.

    We understand students have different behavioural needs; please make our instructor aware of children that might require additional support/understanding before the sessions begin so we can do our best to provide them with the best experience possible.

    If students typically have one-to-one support we expect those members of staff to be present during the session to provide support and to ensure that the learner can participate meaningfully and enjoy an amazing experience.

    We are happy to support schools with positive reinforcement and praise, so if you use house points, table-points, Dojos etc, please let us know and we’ll be happy to contribute.

    In extreme circumstances where our instructor is made to feel unsafe, disrespected or there is a risk of our equipment being damaged, we will request that individual/s responsible are removed from the session, and failing to do so will result in us having to terminate the session.
