Barrow-in-Furness Summer STEM

The Defence Nuclear Enterprise (MOD) are funding their EKO STEM Summer programme for students in Barrow-in-Furness for summer 2025. Hyett Education will deliver a range of exciting STEM workshops aimed at encouraging young people to engage with science, technology, engineering and maths throughout the summer holidays.

Schools in the local area are being asked to invite suitable candidates from their settings to take part. If your school has asked your child to take part, please complete the application form below [check back for this in a few days - we’re currently working on it].

Key information:

  • The club will run over 10 days, on the weeks commencing 18th August, and 25th August 2025.

  • It will be hosted at Victoria Academy (LA14 5NE), is funded by Defence Nuclear Enterprise, and delivered by Hyett Education

  • 5 days will be dedicated to students in years 3-6, and the other 5 days will be dedicated to students in years 7-9.

  • Students will receive a breakfast, snacks, fruit, a packed lunch and refreshments each day

  • Activities will include LEGO Robotics and Coding, AI & Machine Learning, Cybersecurity & Cryptography, Drone Coding, 3D Design & Printing plus more.

  • There is no cost to parents for this club; it is fully-funded by the EKO STEM programme.

Assurances:

  • All Hyett Education staff have clear enhanced DBS checks and are on the DBS Update Service.

  • All Hyett Education staff have Level 1-Level 3 safeguarding, and Level 3 Paediatric First Aid qualifications, up to date as of June 2025.

  • There will be at least one Level 3 safeguarding member of staff onsite at all times.

Eligibility rules:

  • Students must be age 8-14 years old at the time of attendance

  • Students must attend a school within 10 miles of Barrow-in-Furness, or live within 10 miles of Barrow-in-Furness
