How Workshops Are Funded
Two programmes provide fully funded STEM workshops for schools.

RAF Youth & STEM
Hyett Education has been a RAF STEM Education Partner since 2019. Through this partnership, we deliver 100+ fully funded STEM workshops per year to schools across the UK.
The programme is aimed nationally at engaging children from disadvantaged backgrounds and under-represented groups, including girls, in STEM. The goal is to inspire interest in STEM subjects, leading to academic choices and careers that broaden the future talent pool for the RAF and wider defence sector. Workshops are funded through the RAF Youth & STEM education budget and are completely free to the school.
Eligibility: RAF Youth & STEM is aimed at pupils aged 9 to 14 (Years 5–9). Primary schools applying for RAF-funded workshops must be delivering to KS2 (Year 5 or 6); secondary schools must be delivering to KS3 or below. Schools with younger or older cohorts can apply for an EKO-funded workshop or a paid Hyett workshop instead.

DNE: EKO Programme
The Defence Nuclear Enterprise (DNE) runs the EKO Programme, which stands for Engagement, Knowledge & Opportunities. EKO is the DNE’s outreach programme, designed to inspire young people in communities near defence nuclear sites.
Through the EKO Programme, Hyett Education delivers 120+ fully funded STEM workshops per year to schools in these communities. The workshops are part of the DNE’s commitment to community engagement and STEM education.
Eligibility: EKO funded workshops cover KS2, KS3, and KS4. Schools must be located in communities near defence nuclear sites to qualify.
