Our principles for employer-funded programmes
What schools, parents and funders can expect whenever an employer or sponsor pays for workshops.
Last reviewed: October 2026
These principles apply to every programme where an employer or sponsor funds Hyett Education workshops in schools.
Curriculum first
Every session teaches something in the curriculum. The employer adds context; it never becomes the lesson.
No weapons
No weapons, targeting or combat scenarios. Technology is taught through civil and humanitarian uses: search and rescue, flood mapping, communications, energy.
No recruitment
No recruitment messaging for the employer or any other organisation, and no data collected for recruitment. Careers information covers the whole sector.
Age-appropriate careers
Primary: what engineers do. Key Stage 3: a range of sectors. Key Stages 4 and 5: named employers, apprenticeships and work experience.
Transparency
Schools know who funds a session, and what that company does, before they apply. Parents get advance notice and can opt their child out of employer segments. Sponsor branding stays off primary classroom materials.
School control
The school chooses the workshop and year group, and can decline the employer segments.
Pupil data
Pupil data is never shared with sponsors. Reporting is aggregated and pupil surveys are anonymous.
Safeguarding
Volunteers are briefed and supervised, never alone with pupils, and photos are taken only with the school's consent, in line with its photo policy.
