Our Commitments
Safeguarding Policy
1Enhanced DBS Checks
All Hyett Education staff hold enhanced DBS clearance with barred list checks and are registered on the DBS Update Service, meaning schools can verify checks instantly. DBS certificate numbers are available on request. No member of staff will have unsupervised access to children.
2Staff Identification
All Hyett Education staff carry photo ID and wear branded uniform when visiting schools. Staff will sign in at reception on arrival and follow all school visitor protocols.
3Supervision
A member of school staff must remain present at all times during workshop sessions. Hyett Education instructors will never be left alone with students. This is a non-negotiable requirement of our safeguarding policy.
4Behaviour Management
We follow positive behaviour management approaches. If a significant behaviour concern arises, we will immediately refer to the attending school staff member. We do not administer sanctions or physical restraint under any circumstances.
5SEND & SEMH
We welcome students of all abilities and needs. Schools should inform us in advance of any students with SEND or SEMH needs so we can make reasonable adjustments. All workshops are designed to be inclusive and differentiated for multiple ability levels.
6Risk Assessments
Full risk assessments are provided for every workshop before the visit. These cover equipment, activities, room setup, and emergency procedures. Risk assessments are updated annually and reviewed before each delivery.
7Insurance
Hyett Education holds comprehensive public liability insurance (£10 million) and professional indemnity insurance. Certificates are available on request.
8Data Protection
We comply with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Student data is processed only for workshop delivery purposes and is never shared with third parties. Photography requires explicit school consent and images are stored securely.
9Equipment Safety
All equipment is regularly inspected, well-maintained, and meets safety standards. Equipment is maintained to manufacturer specifications and checked before each workshop. Damaged equipment is immediately removed from service. Batteries, chargers, and electrical equipment meet all UK safety standards.
