What our AI workshops cover
Our AI and machine learning workshop is fully hands-on and instructor-led, with every pupil training their own model and seeing it control a real robot. Rather than watching a demonstration, pupils gather training data, teach an image-recognition model to tell objects apart, then connect it to a LEGO robot and watch their decisions play out in the physical world. Along the way they meet the ideas that sit behind everyday AI, including how machines learn from examples, why training data matters and how bias and ethics shape the technology they use every day.
- Training image-recognition models: Pupils capture their own examples and teach a model to recognise different objects, gestures or images, seeing how a machine learns from the data it is given.
- Controlling LEGO robots with AI: Pupils connect their trained model to a LEGO robot so its movements respond to what the model sees, turning an abstract idea into a working machine.
- Understanding supervised learning and training data: Pupils explore how more and better examples improve a model's accuracy, learning why the quality of training data shapes how well any AI performs.
- Exploring bias and AI ethics: Pupils investigate how models can get things wrong or treat groups unfairly, discussing real-world AI ethics at a level pitched to their age and key stage.

Curriculum links and careers value
The AI Robotics: Machine Learning workshop maps directly to the National Curriculum for computing, including how computers represent and process data, the use of algorithms and selection, and how technology shapes the world around us. It also draws on Computing at School AI curriculum resources, giving pupils a structured first encounter with machine learning concepts such as supervised learning, training data and model accuracy. The robot-building element links naturally to design and technology, while discussions of bias and AI ethics support wider science and PSHE objectives. For schools in Wales, the workshop aligns with the Science and Technology area of the Curriculum for Wales. Sessions are delivered in English.
Beyond the curriculum, the day connects pupils to some of the fastest-growing careers in the UK, from AI and machine learning engineering to data science and robotics. By training their own models and confronting questions of fairness and ethics, pupils leave with a grounded, realistic sense of what AI actually is and how it is built, which is exactly the kind of enrichment that brings a computing curriculum to life and raises aspirations.
Why schools choose Hyett for AI and machine learning
Every day rate is all-inclusive. We bring all equipment and consumables, an enhanced DBS-checked instructor, a full risk assessment and participation certificates for pupils, and we run up to 5 sessions across the school day for up to 240 students, with up to 30 students per session. Because we deliver in your school, there are no transport costs, no consent forms and no travel risk assessments, and we carry £5m public liability insurance for complete peace of mind.
Since 2017 we have delivered 3,000+ workshops to 1,000+ schools across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, and every verified customer review is five-star on Trustpilot and Google. Our specialist instructors are confident with both the technology and the classroom, so the AI concepts land clearly and every pupil leaves having trained a model and controlled a robot of their own.
How to book an AI and machine learning workshop
Booking an AI workshop for your school is straightforward, and we handle the logistics so you can focus on the day itself. Here is how it works:
- Get in touch. Contact us with your preferred dates, year groups and rough pupil numbers, and tell us a little about what you want pupils to get from the day.
- Get your tailored quote. We confirm a price based on your year groups, pupil numbers and location, all from our £597 per day floor, so you know exactly what is included before you commit.
- Confirm your day. We lock in the date, share your risk assessment and any preparation notes, and answer any questions from your team ahead of the visit.
- We deliver in your school. Our instructor arrives with everything needed, runs the sessions across the school day and leaves pupils with participation certificates and a memorable first taste of AI.
