Holiday STEM Programmes for Children

Hands-on robotics, coding, drone and engineering workshops delivered during half-term, Easter, summer and Christmas holidays. Perfect for schools running holiday clubs, local authorities, community groups and parents looking for educational enrichment.

Hyett Education delivers hands-on STEM workshops during every school holiday period, including half-term, Easter, summer and Christmas breaks. Our holiday programmes are designed for schools running holiday clubs, local authorities delivering HAF (Holiday Activities and Food) provision, community groups, and parents seeking engaging educational activities for their children. We bring all specialist equipment and run every session ourselves, so organisers simply need a suitable indoor space. Workshops cover robotics, drone coding, 3D printing, cybersecurity, AI and more, with flexible scheduling, mixed-age group support, and a focus on fun alongside genuine learning.

What We Offer During School Holidays

School holidays should be a time for children to explore, create and have fun. But keeping children genuinely engaged for days or weeks at a time is a real challenge, whether you are running a holiday club, managing a local authority programme, or simply looking for something worthwhile for your own children to do.

Our holiday STEM programmes solve that challenge. We deliver the same high-quality, hands-on workshops that schools book during term time, adapted for the more relaxed, flexible format that holiday settings require. Children build robots, program drones, design and print 3D models, crack codes and explore artificial intelligence. Every session is packed with practical activity, collaboration and genuine excitement. We bring all the equipment, set up before the children arrive, and run every session ourselves.

Who Our Holiday Programmes Are For

Our holiday workshops are designed to work for a range of organisers and settings. Here is who typically books with us:

  • Schools running holiday clubs: Many schools now operate their own holiday provision, either independently or through the HAF programme. Our workshops give your holiday club a genuine highlight activity that children talk about long after the session ends.
  • Local authorities and HAF providers: We work with local authorities and HAF delivery partners to provide high-quality STEM enrichment as part of funded holiday programmes. Our workshops meet HAF enrichment requirements and we can provide all the documentation needed for reporting.
  • Community groups and youth organisations: Scout groups, Brownie packs, youth clubs, church groups and community centres all book our holiday workshops. We bring everything to your venue and adapt to your group size and schedule.
  • Parents and private bookings: Parents organising activities for groups of children during the holidays can book our workshops directly. Gather enough children to meet our minimum group size and we will come to any suitable venue.

Workshop Options for Holiday Programmes

All of our term-time workshops are available during the holidays. These are the options that holiday programme organisers book most often:

  • Robotics (Beginner and Intermediate): Children build and program robots to complete challenges. Our most popular holiday workshop, suitable for ages 5 to 14 depending on the level chosen. Groups of up to 60 per session.
  • Drone Coding: Children program autonomous drones to fly through obstacle courses and complete missions. A spectacular activity that generates huge excitement. Groups of up to 30, requiring a space with high ceilings.
  • 3D Design and Printing: Children design their own 3D models on screen and watch them print in real time. Every child takes home their printed creation. Groups of up to 30 per session.
  • Cybersecurity and Cryptography: Children crack codes, solve ciphers and learn how digital security works through a series of hands-on challenges. Brilliant for older children and mixed-age groups. Groups of up to 30.
  • AI and Machine Learning: Children train machine learning models and use them to control robots. A fascinating workshop that sparks conversations about technology and the future. Groups of up to 30.
  • Stop-Motion Animation: Children create their own animated films using professional stop-motion equipment. A creative, screen-based option that appeals to children who enjoy storytelling and design. Groups of up to 30.

How Holiday Workshops Differ from Term Time

Holiday settings are different from school classrooms, and our workshops reflect that. During term time, sessions are tightly scheduled around the school day and organised by year group. During the holidays, the atmosphere is more relaxed and the groups are often mixed-age, which changes the dynamic in positive ways.

We adapt our sessions for holiday programmes by allowing more open-ended exploration time, adjusting the pace to suit mixed-age and mixed-ability groups, and placing extra emphasis on fun and collaboration rather than curriculum coverage. The learning is still there, but it is wrapped in an experience that feels like a treat rather than a lesson. Children leave buzzing about what they built, coded or created, not feeling like they have been in school during their time off.

How to Book a Holiday Programme Workshop

Booking is straightforward whether you are a school, a local authority, a community group or a parent organising a private session. Here is the process:

  1. Choose your workshops: Browse our full range and decide which sessions suit your group. For a full-day or multi-day programme, many organisers book two or three different workshops and rotate children through them.
  2. Get a quote: Use our instant quote tool to get pricing in seconds, or contact us for bespoke multi-day packages.
  3. Confirm your dates: Get in touch to lock in your preferred dates. Holiday periods book up quickly, especially summer and half-term, so we recommend getting in touch as early as possible.
  4. Leave the rest to us: We bring all equipment, set up before the children arrive, run every session, and pack away at the end. All you need to provide is a suitable indoor space with tables, chairs and power sockets.

Common Questions

Holiday Programme FAQs

Which school holiday periods do you cover?+

We deliver workshops during every school holiday period including half-term breaks, Easter holidays, summer holidays and the Christmas break. We also cover teacher training days and bank holiday periods when holiday clubs are running. Availability varies by date, so we recommend booking as early as possible, particularly for summer and half-term.

What ages are your holiday workshops suitable for?+

We have workshops for children from age 3 right through to age 18. Most holiday programme bookings cover the primary age range (5 to 11), but we regularly deliver sessions for older children too. Our workshops are designed to work with mixed-age groups, which is common in holiday settings, and our instructors differentiate activities so that younger and older children are all appropriately challenged.

How many children can take part in a single session?+

It depends on the workshop. Our robotics workshops accommodate up to 60 children per session when working in teams. Drone coding, 3D printing, cybersecurity and other workshops accommodate up to 30 per session. For larger holiday programmes, we run back-to-back sessions or multiple workshops in parallel with additional instructors.

Do you work with HAF (Holiday Activities and Food) programmes?+

Yes. We work with local authorities and HAF delivery partners across England to provide STEM enrichment as part of funded holiday provision. Our workshops meet HAF enrichment requirements and we can supply all necessary documentation for reporting and compliance purposes.

What space and equipment do we need to provide?+

We bring all specialist equipment including robots, drones, laptops, 3D printers and any other resources needed. All you need to provide is a suitable indoor space with enough room for children to work at tables, plus access to power sockets. For drone workshops specifically, a space with high ceilings is required. No internet connection is needed.

Can we book multiple workshops across several days?+

Absolutely, and many holiday programme organisers do exactly this. A popular format is to book two or three different workshops and rotate groups through them across the week. We offer multi-day packages and can help you plan the right combination of activities for your programme. Get in touch to discuss your requirements.
