Please read these terms in full before taking part. We have set out all the significant conditions here so there are no surprises. Key points to note up front: the reward is a credit to your school, not a personal payment or a commission; a referred school must be genuinely new to us; and credit vests only once the referred school has had its first workshop delivered and paid.

1. Who runs the scheme

The scheme is run by Hyett Education ("Hyett", "we", "us"), the STEM workshop provider whose website is hyetteducation.com. If you have any question about the scheme, please contact us.

2. Eligibility

The scheme is open to state and independent schools in the United Kingdom.

  • You need a completed booking. A school holds a referral code once it has a completed Hyett booking. The code is available in the teacher portal.
  • Rewards accrue to the institution only. Any credit earned belongs to the school as an institution. It is never a personal reward, incentive or payment to any individual member of staff.
  • Leadership acknowledgment. By taking part, the member of staff sharing a code confirms they are authorised to do so on behalf of their school, and agrees that credits are recorded and used with the knowledge of their headteacher or school business manager.

3. When a referral qualifies

For a referral to qualify and earn credit, all of the following must be true.

  • New school. The referred school must never itself have paid for a workshop with Hyett before. A referred school that has only received a funded workshop, or one delivered through another organisation, still counts as new.
  • Sister schools count. Where a school belongs to a multi-academy trust, federation, local authority or other school network, each individual school counts as new in its own right, even if another school in the same network has paid for a booking with us.
  • Active pipeline exclusion. A referral does not qualify if the referred school already had an open private enquiry with us in the 90 days before the code was used. An open funded-programme enquiry does not count against this exclusion. We do this so credit is earned for genuinely new introductions, not for schools we were already talking to about a private booking.
  • Code attached before confirmation. The referral code must be attached to the referred school's booking before that booking is confirmed.
  • First referrer wins. If more than one school refers the same new school, only the first valid referral qualifies.
  • Excluded booking types. The referred school's qualifying booking must be a private, paid booking. The following booking types do not earn a reward for either school: enterprise contract bookings, funded bookings, corporate bookings and international bookings. A referred school's own funded or enterprise-delivered history does not stop it counting as new under the rule above; it is only the qualifying booking itself that must be private and paid.

4. The rewards

  • The referred school. A qualifying referred school receives 5% off the workshop fees on its whole first booking. The discount applies to workshop fees only, and that first-booking discount cannot be combined with another offer. This is separate from the referring school's earned rewards described below.
  • The referring school. Each qualifying referral earns the referring school a fixed credit equal to the cash value of 5% of the referred school's qualifying workshop fees. For example, a school booking three workshop days with £2,091 of workshop fees saves £104.55, and the referring school receives £104.55 credit. See real numbers for your own booking with the Instant Quote tool. The credit does not increase if the referring school later makes a larger booking.
  • When the reward vests. The fixed matched credit is confirmed only once the referred school's first workshop has been both delivered and paid, and a seven day review window has then passed. That window covers any cancellation or refund before the reward becomes final.
  • When we deliver it. Once a referral qualifies, we will make the credit available to the referring school within 30 days.

Nothing in this scheme is a commission, fee or payment for referrals. Both rewards are a discount or a credit only.

5. How credits work

  • Institution bound. Credit belongs to the referring school as an institution. It is non-transferable and cannot be moved to another school or to any individual.
  • Non-cash. Credit has no cash value and cannot be exchanged for cash. It is applied only as a discount on a future Hyett invoice.
  • What it covers. Each reward is fixed in pounds and pence at 5% of the referred booking's qualifying workshop fees. Confirmed credits from multiple referrals add together and may reduce future workshop fees only. A credit never becomes a percentage of the referring school's later booking. Rewards are applied whole; if one is larger than a booking's workshop fees, it stays available for a larger future booking.
  • Expiry. Credit expires 24 months after it vests. We will send a reminder around three months before it lapses, so around the 21 month mark, giving time to use it.

6. Fair use and anti-abuse

To keep the scheme fair for everyone, the following are not allowed, and we reserve the right to withhold, revoke or adjust credit where they occur.

  • No self-referral. A school cannot refer itself, and staff cannot use the scheme to reward their own school for its own booking.
  • Trust rule. Referrals between schools must be genuine. Where schools share a multi-academy trust, the new school rule in section 3 still applies to each school individually.
  • No public posting of codes. Referral codes are for school-to-school recommendation and must not be posted publicly, for example on open websites, forums, social media or voucher and discount sites.
  • Tender blackout. The scheme does not apply to, and codes must not be used within, any competitive tender, framework or procurement process where an incentive would be inappropriate.
  • Our discretion. Where a referral is unclear or disputed, we will adjudicate reasonably and in good faith, and our decision on whether a referral qualifies is final.

7. Changes to the scheme

We may amend or withdraw the scheme, or change these terms, at any time. If we do, credit that has already vested will be honoured under the terms it was earned under.

8. Your data

When you refer a school, we handle contact details carefully and only to run the scheme.

  • What the referrer is told. We will let the referring school know when its referral has qualified and credit has vested. We will not share the referred school's commercial details, such as what they paid, with the referrer.
  • Concierge handling. Where you pass us a contact for a school you would like to refer, we handle that introduction ourselves in a considerate way, and the contact can opt out of the scheme at any time.
  • Privacy. All personal data is handled in line with our privacy policy.

9. A note on recording credit

Because credit is earned by the school and not by any individual, we encourage colleagues to record any credit their school receives in line with their own school's gifts, hospitality and procurement policies, and to keep their headteacher or school business manager informed. This keeps everything transparent and above board.
