What our robotics workshops cover

Our robotics workshops form a progressive pathway through computational thinking, from play-based building in the early years to text-based Python in sixth form. Each one is hands-on, run by a specialist instructor, and every pupil leaves having built and programmed a working robot. Schools can book a single workshop or combine several across a day or a multi-day programme.

  • Beginner STEMbotics (ages 5 to 11): Introductory robotics and block-based coding with LEGO Spike Essential and WeDo 2.0. No reading requirement at Key Stage 1. Learn more
  • Intermediate STEMbotics (ages 7 to 16): Block-based programming with LEGO Spike Prime, using sensors, motors, gyroscopes and challenge mats. Introduces foundational GCSE Computer Science concepts. Learn more
  • Advanced STEMbotics: Python Robotics (ages 11 to 18): Text-based Python programming with LEGO Spike Prime, covering sensors, path-following, automation and line-tracking robots. Supports GCSE and A-Level Computer Science. Learn more
  • AI Robotics: Machine Learning (ages 7 to 16): Pupils train image-recognition models that control LEGO robots, exploring supervised learning, training data, bias and AI ethics at an age-appropriate level. Learn more
  • STEMdrones: Drone Coding (ages 7 to 18): Programmable drone challenges and aerospace engineering with education-grade drones. Pupils code flight patterns, formation flying and obstacle navigation. Learn more

Curriculum-aligned robotics

Every robotics workshop maps to specific strands of the National Curriculum for computing, with design and technology and mathematics links throughout. The progression mirrors how the curriculum builds: algorithms and sequencing in the primary years, selection and repetition at Key Stage 2 and 3, and text-based programming that supports GCSE and A-Level Computer Science higher up the school.

Because robotics is hands-on and visible, it also gives a school strong, recordable evidence for enrichment and careers. Each workshop links naturally to engineering and technology careers, supporting the Gatsby Benchmarks for careers provision, and gives pupils a tangible experience the regular timetable rarely can.

Why schools choose Hyett for robotics

We bring everything. Every day rate includes the full kit (LEGO Spike Prime, Spike Essential, WeDo 2.0, education-grade drones and Python laptops), all consumables, an enhanced DBS-checked instructor, a full risk assessment and participation certificates. Your school does not need to provide any technology, and in-school delivery removes transport costs, consent forms and travel risk assessments entirely.

Hyett Education has delivered hands-on STEM workshops to more than 1,000 schools across the UK since 2017, and every verified customer review is five-star. Robotics is one of our core workshop themes, run by instructors who teach it day in, day out.

How to book a robotics workshop

Booking a robotics day is straightforward. Many schools book one to launch a STEM club, mark British Science Week, run an off-timetable enrichment day, or give a whole year group a shared, inspiring experience.

  1. Get in touch: Contact us with your school, the year groups involved and what you are looking for. There is no obligation at this stage.
  2. Choose your workshops: We will recommend the right robotics workshops for your year groups and goals, and can run several across a day so pupils experience a progression.
  3. Get a tailored quote: Use the instant quote tool for a figure by postcode and year group, or we will send one based on your sessions, group sizes and workshops chosen. Pricing starts from £597 per day as a floor.
  4. Prepare for the day: Once confirmed, we send a preparation guide covering room setup and timetabling, and we bring all equipment with us.

Not sure which robotics workshops suit your pupils best? We are happy to recommend options based on your year groups and what you want the day to achieve. Browse our full workshop range or get in touch to start planning your robotics day.

Common Questions

Robotics Workshop FAQs

What age groups are your robotics workshops for?

Our robotics workshops run from Reception (age 5) through to sixth form (age 18). The pathway progresses from play-based building and block-based coding in the primary years to text-based Python programming that supports GCSE and A-Level Computer Science. We match the workshop and challenge level to your year groups.

What equipment do you provide, and do we need to supply anything?

We bring everything. The day rate includes LEGO Spike Prime, Spike Essential and WeDo 2.0 kits, education-grade drones, Python laptops and all consumables. Your school does not need to provide any technology, just a room with tables and power.

How much does a robotics workshop cost?

Workshops start from £597 per day as a floor, with the exact figure set by the workshop, your group sizes and your location. Sharing one day across several classes lowers the cost per pupil. Use our instant quote tool for a tailored figure by postcode and year group rather than a guess.

Are the workshops aligned to the National Curriculum?

Yes. Every robotics workshop maps to specific strands of the National Curriculum for computing, with design and technology and mathematics links. Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 content aligns with GCSE Computer Science, and our sixth-form Python workshop supports A-Level. Curriculum for Wales alignment is noted where applicable.

How many pupils can take part?

We run class-sized sessions, with several across the school day so you can reach a whole year group, up to around 240 pupils in a full day. Capacities vary by key stage, and we will plan the timetable with you to suit your numbers.

Do you travel to our school, and where do you cover?

Yes. We deliver in-school across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Pricing is based on a five-band distance model from our West Midlands base, and travel within the quoted band is included.
